On Memorial day, we visited the cemetery where my Uncle Tim, who served in the Vietnam war, and our friend Joseph, who died a few years ago in Afghanistan, were buried. Each year on Memorial day, in the section of the cemetery where veterans are laid to rest, flags are placed at the headstone of each person who served our country. It's a beautiful sight to behold and it always fills me with such gratitude. As I've walked around and read the headstones of my uncle's "neighbors", it's amazing to see when these people served and in what branch of the military, as well as in which, if any, wars they served in. Some served in multiple wars, which is just incredible to me. I am so proud to be an American and I'm grateful to all who serve our country and uphold our freedoms. We placed flowers on the graves of both my uncle and our friend as well as on my father-in-law's grave when we visited that cemetery later that day with Nate's mom and sister, Michelle. We feel very blessed to have had these people in our lives.
