I am so amazed by this kid. He is so thoughtful and generous, especially with his brother and sister. Whenever his primary teachers give him a snack or treat in class, he saves it (or some of it) to give to Holland. As I mentioned, he chose where to go for his birthday dinner because he knows how much Noah likes "all-you-can-eat" places, not because it was his favorite place, although I know he loves PPC too. He is very tender hearted, he doesn't really have the instinct to get back at someone or hurt someone who has hurt him, he just wants everyone to be happy and get along. He is often the one to try and resolve conflict, even if it means giving something up that he wants. He is fearless. He will try to do anything without much thought (roller coaster rides, swimming, bike riding, flips, etc.). He has a quick sense of humor and is very clever. He makes us laugh and diffuses some of our rough times with a silly face or joke. He is a little shy and is content to be on his own. I love watching him play on his own, sometimes I can just see he's having fun with just whatever is happening in his mind. He still holds my hand and cuddles with me (Noah's too "old" for this- most of the time, and Holland's too independent). He likes to be comfortable, he'll wear sweat pants (or as he calls them "softy pants") or basketball shorts all day every day, and his Crocks. He's looking forward to starting Kindergarten this fall and we're trying to find a Karate class for him because that's something he's interested in.
The Saturday after his birthday, Porter had a Star Wars birthday party. His only requests were that it was a Star Wars Theme and that he had a pinata. I had thought to make a pinata, but when we were at the store buying candy for it, Porter spotted a Darth Vader one and asked me to get it, so that's what I did. We played some of the classic party games with a Star Wars twist- Pin the Bun on Leia, and Storm Trooper Knock Over. I also had some Star Wars coloring pages and Chewbacca bags for the kids to collect their treats from the pinata in. Porter had a pretty good turn out of friends at his party and all of the kids had a lot of fun.
Porter got a lot of really fun gifts for his birthday, and even some money which he has used a little of to buy some more fun stuff to play with.
We are so happy to have Porter in our family. He is such a little sweetheart and a ray of light. What a great kid!
