September is National Addiction Recovery Month
September is National Addiction Recovery Month. Addiction, of one form or another, effects everyone. If you have an addiction, you know how it controls you, your choices, your relationships, everything. Or, you may be one who is experiencing feeling a loved one slip away because of their addiction. Either way, there is help available to you. One resource is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Addiction Recover Program, which is available to anyone, even those not of our faith. This program is designed to support individuals and/or spouses of people experiencing addictions from pornography addiction to drug and alcohol abuse, and even for food addiction. In an effort to raise awareness of this program, mormonchannel.org has released a series of videos, following real people through one of each step of the 12-Steps to Change program. They are touching stories of addiction, struggle, and recovery. They are not suitable for young children as they do deal with very serious issues, but I believe they are uplifting for anyone else who may or may not be experiencing struggles related to addiction.
